Persimmons should not be eaten with the following foods:
- Cold Foods: Such as crabs, seafood, etc. Since persimmons are naturally cold in nature, eating them with cold foods can lead to digestive discomfort, including symptoms like stomach pain and diarrhea.
- High-Protein Foods: Such as fish, shrimp, crab meat, eggs, etc. The tannins in persimmons can combine with proteins to form substances that are difficult to digest, which may affect protein absorption and could lead to bloating, vomiting, or other discomforts.
- High-Starch Foods: Such as sweet potatoes, potatoes, and yams. These foods stimulate the secretion of stomach acid, and the pectin and tannins in persimmons can easily coagulate into lumps under the action of stomach acid, making digestion difficult. In severe cases, it may lead to gastric stones.
- Certain Fruits: Such as acidic fruits like oranges, grapefruits, plums, apricots, and black dates. These fruits may cause adverse reactions with persimmons, leading to indigestion or worsening the burden on the digestive system.
- Alcoholic Beverages: Alcohol, when consumed with persimmons, may cause stone formation and aggravate gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Vinegar: It is also not advisable to consume vinegar with persimmons, as a chemical reaction between them may produce harmful precipitates that are detrimental to health.
